Interface Design

These are some interface sketches that we have done.

Main Menu:
- the background would be a slightly blurred video clip with all the light trails along the street of Kajang at night.
- there's a mute button at the right top of the scene for user to switch off the audio.
- the background music would be a kind of looping electronic jazz.

Information Section:
- Every category would have an information section, which provide some static information about that category.
- The background would be a slightly blurred image in random brightness, thus creating an illusion that it has some slight animation and makes it doesn't so boring.
- The "More Fun" button is where user navigate to the games.
- When clicking the main links in that page (in this case, Kajang Satay, Chicken Rice and Spicy Soup), the description about that particular item would come out in the box as shown above.
- You can click the links at the right bottom of the description for further information about the item, in this case, the location and price.
- When the 'jump to' button is clicked, a navigation menu would pop up for user to jump to other categories and the main menu.

Game Section:
- The background would be more or less the same as the information section.
- The 'about famous food' button at the right top side is for jumping back to the information section.

More to come, stay tuned ^^

Flowchart

Kajang half-day trip

Objective: Research, study and explore Kajang town.
Date: 23th November 2007

Time: 11.30am – 5.30pm.
Destination: Kajang town centre & Sungai Chua.
Transport: Shuqi’s car.
Participants:
Shuqi (Leader + Driver), Chor, Ben, Chen Yi and Grace (Special Guest).
Money Spent: Petrol – RM 20.00, Food – RM 30.00
Gadget: DSLR Cameras.

Route of travel:
11.30am - Department.

12.00pm - Had our brunch at a restaurant in Sungai Chua, which is very famous with its La Tang (spicy soup in mandarin). Basically La Tang is the same with Bakuteh, the only difference is the soup - the soup of Bakuteh is cooked with chinese herbs; while the soup of La Tang is made up of pepper and gingers. Inside the soup there are chicken and vegetables. Along with another dish of spicy minced meat cooked with dry chillies and a pot of hot chinese tea, we spent around RM30.00 for this meal.

1.00pm - After having our brunch, we went to one of the most famous steakhouses in Kajang. It was formerly called '1st Station Restaurant', and now it is called 'Mommommia Cafe'. Teenagers in Kajang like to gather here because it has a romanticly-decorated environment and a cheerful and exciting atmosphere.

1.20pm - The next place we visited is Bintang Supermarket, one of the supermarkets in Kajang.

1.40pm - After that, we came to Stadium Kajang in Kajang Town. It is not as gorgeous as the one in Bukit Jalil, but an old stadium that has been a popular venue for all sorts of community activities for a long time, until now. Beside Stadium Kajang there is a restaurant called 'Restoran Sate Kajang HJ. Samuri', which is one of the most famous places you can get Kajang Satay. The other end of the building is Kajang Public Library, which the opposite of it is Kajang Post Office.

2.15pm - We came to a park next to SJK and SMJK Yu Hua. Despite the students from the surrounding schools, many parents like to hang out with their children here.

2. 45pm - Next destination, Metro Point, which is the newest shopping mall in Kajang. It only started its operation 2 months ago. You can find many well-known shops in this building, for example, Starbucks Café, Secret Recipe, Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robin. Besides that, this shopping mall has some entertainment facilities too such as bowling (third floor) and game arcade (second floor).

3.45pm - We come to the largest shopping complex in Kajang – Plaza Metro Kajang. There is a Parkson Grand and a Giant inside, and of course, many other shops as well. Yamaha music school is just on the top floor of Plaza Metro Kajang. Next to it, there's a food court; Underneath it, there's a cinema.

5.00pm - Leaving.

5.30pm - Reached Cyberjaya, safely. ^^

* We couldn't take much photos in the shopping complex because we didn't apply for the photography pass.
* We only managed to visit certain parts of Kajang because Ben has to go back earlier. Thus we are planning to have a second visit in the coming weekends.

Background:
1. Kajang is a developing town that is not well-known among teenagers.
2. When Kajang is mentioned, the only thing that teenagers know is its infamous Satay, or even worse, they might never heard this name before.
3. Other than Kajang Satay, there are many more things to be discovered in this town. A lot more fun, a lot more places to hang out, a lot more food to try!

Places to visit - Important places that you should never miss.

Objective:

1. To introduce Kajang to the outer world.
2. To attract more people, especially teenagers to Kajang.

Implementation:

1. We are going to make a computer application to introduce what you can find in Kajang Town.
2. Since our target audience are teenagers around 16 to 25 years old, we planned to generate an atmosphere that suits teenagers' interest in the interface design.
3. The design is based on the night scenes of Kajang town, along with some light electronic jazz music in the background.
4. Some interesting games would be made to boost the interest of our target audience.
5. For the first 2 weeks, we will be collecting all the resources we need, for instance, further information about our scope of content, graphic resources such as videos and photographs, and audio clips for background music.
6. At the same time, we will be exploring the ways of using Lingo in Macromedia Director, which is our chosen software for this application.
7. Next, we will start working on the application. It is assumed that we will be moving our first step on the second week (counting from the approval of this proposal).
8. We will try our best to get everything done in the middle of the third week, so that we some extra have time to fix the bugs in the testing stage.
9. When there is no more error, we will finalize the documentation and close the project. Hopefully this would happen before the beginning of the forth week, 17th of December, which is the submission deadline.
